This sweet moment of domesticity was perfectly suited to these two. I still don't know why Jack hid even the most mundane of details about himself, but I'm glad he decided to share this memory with Ianto.

Yeah, I've wondered about Jack's secrecy for a while too. I think a lot of it might just be habit? Too many years spent as a con-man, where it's par for the course to create an alternate identity, or something. I sort of see it like...Ianto needs to coax it out of him here, almost. Anyway, thank you for reading! :)

Thank you~! I'm glad the combination of both those things with Ianto's mood worked here. :)

Ianto never really asks for much, does he?

I wonder how much of his past Jack honestly can't remember... I'm nowhere near as old as he is, but I can't remember a lot from my childhood so it wouldn't surprise me if Jack genuinely can't remember. Even so, he has to be careful not to give too much away about the future for fear he might accidentally alter something important. It's a difficuly balancing act, protecting the future while still giving his lover enough to keep him happy

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if Jack has actually forgotten a lot of his past, and that this may be part of the reason he doesn't like to talk much about it. I think there are parts of his past that Jack wants to remember, and can't, and then other parts that he has a hard time forgetting, so that combination just...makes him avoid the topic as much as he can. And yeah, I'm sure the whole future aspect plays into it too.
