Thank you so much for your lovely comment! ♥ I really appreciate it, and I'm so glad you liked this, and that the characterizations and all of that rang true for you.

I've been really intrigued lately by Sam and his motivations in S4, so this was a way for me to work out some of the reasons behind his actions, and I'm really happy it seemed to work here. And I'm glad Dean's thoughts made sense too!

Anyway, thank you for reading, and for the comment. :)

Wow, I loved reading this. It just got under my skin and in my brain, and you really got into Sam's headspace here with his reasons with Ruby and Dean's death and just, well, so much.

Aww, thank you so much! I'm so glad Sam's headspace worked for you here.

I really wanted to explore the frame of mind that he seems to be in at the start of S4, which to me is that sense of just...trying really, really hard not to lose control? But there are a lot of external factors influencing his ability to keep it together, and I wanted to try to express some of that here.

But yes, thank you! I'm really glad you liked it. :)

Ohh, I love this. Over time S4!Sam has become one of my favorite fannish things to muse over, and I think you got him pinned pretty well here. Beautifully written, too.

Oh, thank you so, so much! <3 I've been on this epic re-watch lately, and one of the things that's really struck me has been S4!Sam too. There's just so much to explore there with his motivations, and his reaction to having Dean back and all of that, so... Yes~ I'm really happy you liked this and that the characterization worked for you here!

I loved how lyrical you managed to keep the prose, especially in contrast with the raw feelings and the subject matter. And their intimacy was woven so well within the narrative, neither jumping out at me, nor being obscured by the anguish. It's an unusual piece, more like a stream of consciousness, so I'm not surprised to see it doesn't have a lot of feedback, but for what it is worth, I see what you tried to do with it. And I enjoyed it very much!:)

ETA: I just wanted to quote a particular favourite, both in emotional insight and prose: "Later, he’d find that there was a weird sort of peace in giving up on something so enormous, like all the sudden the world was a much smaller, more contracted place." ♥

Aww, thank you! I'm so happy that you enjoyed it. And believe me, your feedback is always worth a lot! I know what you mean though, this is definitely kind of a strange fic, so it also didn't really surprise me that it hasn't gotten a lot of feedback. It's kind of a different style for me too, so I'm really happy to hear it worked for you and that you got what I was attempting here. ;)

I'm also extra happy that you liked that line. ^_^ Thanks again for your kind words~ ♥
