Since I'm reading the manga as it's released here, I'll say that, if the anime sticks with the plot there at least mostly, it does indeed have a good plot to keep it worth watching!

I am writing all these down for my mum. She loves anime and is always interested in checking out new stuff.

I, however, am waiting on the Northern Hemisphere summer for the re-boot of Pretty Soldier, Sailor Moon.

You'll have to let me know what she thinks if she tries any of them! So far from what I've watched first episodes of, Red Data Girl, Hataraki Maou-sama and Suisei no Gargantia all had promising starts. :D

And huh, I hadn't heard they were doing a reboot of that. You'll have to let me know how it is.

So far Hataraki Maou-sama and Suisei no Gargantia are my favorites. :D Maou-sama is really, really funny - the basic plot is that the dark lord satan and his manservant fall through some sort of rift that drops them into present day Tokyo, and... Satan/Maou starts working at McDonalds, and is kind of a really nice guy? :P It's a weird form of slice of life/supernatural that's just really entertaining. ;)

And Gargantia is looks like it's shaping up to be an interesting mecha series. Kind of has a Cowboy Bebop like feel to it, with a pilot who crash lands on earth (which apparently has frozen over and is now un-frozen, so everyone lives on boats), and is trying to find his way back to wherever he came from. The animation is really pretty, too. *nod*

Red Data Girl and Karneval feel a little slow to me so far, but we'll see. ;)

And yes, I really hope you can make it to the con! *crosses fingers* <333

I've watched the first 2 episodes of Hataraki Maou-sama, Suisei no Gargantia, and Red Data Girl, and the first episode of Karneval, and Aku no Hana.

(Can you tell this weekend was anime catch up weekend? XD;;)

So far Maou and Gargantia are my favorites. Maou is really funny. The premise just sort of lends itself to amusing situations, with these two super powerful beings (the dark lord Satan, and his underling :P) who end up on earth in human bodies, having to do things like get part time jobs, open bank accounts, etc. :P It's also just kind of hilarious because the first episode starts with this epic battle in another world, between Satan and...whoever, and then when the end up on earth they're just really nice guys? So yeah, that one is honestly my unexpected favorite so far ( ... )

I'm not checking out any new anime, although I always feel like I should? But really, if I'm going to get into anything new, it will probably be via manga. I am thinking about doing a Princess Tutu rewatch, though...

Let us know how these new shows go!

Yeah, since I tend to not read manga pretty much ever (XD;) I try my news series out when the anime starts. ;) So far, Hataraki Maou-sama is my favorite, just because it's hilarious and I like the premise (Satan fallen to earth, working at McDonald's :D) but yes, I'll keep you posted! ^__^
