Ooo! I <3 musicals! Carol King is a pretty good artist too. Now my only question is if there is any acting in between the songs or if all the lines are sung. I personally enjoy musicals that have some acting in between the songs and are less like operas (one of the reasons I kinda didn't like Cats, Evita, and real hesitant to see Phantom of the Opera). But even if not, I may have to check and see when this musical is coming to town. It's always healthy to attend the theater regularly. ;)
Actually, since the songs are all short pop songs, there's really no dialogue or anything like that that's sung in this - all of that is told through straight acting, so I think you'll really like it! They also did a good job of sort of weaving the story through the songs, through the order they sung them in? But the bulk of the actual story is pretty much a play, with the songs here and there throughout. A really good balance, I think. *nod* I was surprised by how many of the songs I knew, also! She wrote a lot of things for other groups that surprised me! And then they also tell the story of their "rival" songwriters, and a lot of those songs are really fun, too~ It was just a really, really fun show.
And I agree about the theater~ We've been making an effort to see more things lately, and I have not regretted it! :D
