I never understand the point of these things. If you are annoyed or mad or happy with someone, why not just tell them? I've always felt that this meme's only accomplishment is to stir up all sorts of drama and mistrust and speculation, without actually resolving anything.

This is not directed at you, Andrea, but at the principle of the thing.

Most people do tell. It's a way of releasing frustration and anger -- or sometimes positive emotion -- and, if the person you're directing the emotion toward really does not want to know, he or she just doesn't ask.

Sometimes, it can also be used for people you don't talk to anymore and so didn't get to say things to. Or for things you feel silly about.
