"That meeting was a reality check for me-and not just about Iraq. It was a reminder that all of us still have an obligation to ask: Don’t more women deserve a place at the table too?"

If they earn it. Yes but the simple fact of the matter is that most women aren't willing to sacrifice some of the traditional roles of women in order to be successful. The major one being having children. its every womans right to have kids but how far up the corporate ladder can one climb while taking months off at a time to birth a child? Once that child is in the world who takes care of it?

not being anti just bringing up something to think about.

You're right. Just because only one woman was seated at that table it does not automatically mean that proficient women were denied seats as her colleagues because of sexual discrimination, as she implied. In fact, I'm pretty sure that the male:female ratio in that brief had nothing to do with discrimination because of the hefty amounts news corporations have to lose in lawsuits if they do. There are many factors to consider, like the woman's interest in the position, the length of time it takes to get there, the amount of women who were involved in journalism when Katie began, the amount of women who are content with their current positions and aren't interested in moving up to such a high scale, the women who are discontent and move to a different field, and the availability of these positions, just to name a few. I just think it's interesting that a journalist with such a high stature still jumps to rash solutions out of convenience.
