Priced fencing options at the Depot today. We're totally torn between three options: 1) ripping out a row of low, scrawny bushes and replacing with a 6 ft tall screen of 20-30 arborvitae, reinforced with a low fence of relatively inexpensive (and unobtrusive) wire fencing, 2) leaving the existing bushes in place and installing 6 ft vinyl, lattice-Read more... )

i only just read your whole blog. we also had to fix the gate to our old house. our fence guy set a post hole with a post (obviously) right butted up against the house. drive past my old house on trout brook (1106) and you can see the gate and the posts. its the last house on your left coming from fern, before warwick. a brick colonial. worked very well for us. and like i said, compared to the others, hastied was cheap. (still expensive but about a third of what cape cod charges) good luck. fences make good neighbors!
