The past few weeks have been action-packed, to say the least. I completed my first year of graduate school with a 4.0 GPA and a number of writing projects for this summer. congrats on the 4.0 in your first year! i still have a year before i get to do that. the pictures are absolutely beautiful (so is the girl, hehe)! we'll have to catch up soon.

I would like to second the congratulations on the 4.0. Well done.

Your reasoning on the "atheist" label is spot-on. My friend Doug Krueger (who has written a book on atheism) and a lot of others make the same argument. I see/hear it used a lot not only on internet forums but also in real life conversations with curious people (and religious nutjobs alike) who talk to our freethinker group. This is one reason I like to call myself a non-theist, although it would be nice to not have to be defined in terms of what we don't believe...

Thanks Michael! That book looks pretty sweet.

It is such a pity that people have to fight arguments defending the non-existence of something. Whatever happened to the philosophy behind 'innocent until proven guilty (or real)'?

Nice quotations. I like to go back to my favorite sections and read them again... I always find something else worth underlining. Pretty soon I´m sure my entire copy will have one continuous underline under all the text. I should just give up and accept that everything he says is genius. Haha.

I hope the first couple days at the new job went well! I will see you TOMORROW afternoon (at 430, not some time next week, haha).
