Well... I'd bought a coupon booklet. I didn't have to buy a ticket each time that I travelled by train. I simply had to punch tickets from the booklet for the relevant amount and be on my way. And yes, I was 'two' fortunate to have gotten away with this.

getting past TCs anonymous November 29 2005, 12:22:20 UTC
steps to get past TCs (very helpful if you don't have a ticket, helpful even if have one, saves time !)

1. Make sure NONE of the buttons on ur shirt are open (if wearing a T-shirt please ignore)

2. Get ur shoes polished on the platform before get onto the dreaded over-bridge (if wearing gregs or chappels please ignore).

3. Walk slowly.

4. Dont look at the TCs.

5. As you get close to the TC, get your handkerchief out and act as if you are wiping ur sweat (if winter, find some other activity to act busy)

6. As you walk past the TC, reduce your speed even more and pretend to check the time. (if you really are interested in the time, don't pretend)

7. By now, you should be past the TC. However, if you are unlucky, you might be asked to produce your ticket. This is the easiest part - if you have a ticket, show it, else pay up !!!
