character info.
character name: Kurosaki, Ichigo
canon & medium: BLEACH, manga
age & species: 16, human/shinigami/hollow/vizard
appearance: [1] [2]
timeline: Chapter 406
background/history link: Ichigo's wikia page. It also summarizes anime-only arcs which won't be applicable for how I play Ichigo since I don't watch the anime.

personality:

Ichigo's outward attitude is mostly rough and to the point. Often called a punk or troublemaker at school, he's never been one to take crap from other people, and isn't shy when it comes to letting people know what he thinks about them. Since he's always been picked on for one thing or another [his hair, the fact he can see ghosts, etc.] he's developed an aggressive attitude to deal with these incredibly annoying people. Ichigo doesn't smile, he doesn't hug- he scowls so hard his face might have wrinkles and his form of a greeting is a kick to the face. Ichigo's friends tend to see a different side of him, in that he's actually friendly with them. While he isn't terribly active in conversation with them, he does listen when he can and generally seems to have a good time with them.

Becoming Ichigo's friend isn't easy, and it mostly has to do with the fact that Ichigo doesn't pay attention to those around him until they are his friends. He has a hard time with names and faces and if you don't make an impression, he may never even notice you're there. But once you become his friend, you've made a lifelong attachment. Ichigo will stick with a friend through thick and thin- even if sometimes he idea of what's best for said friends involves being an asshole to them.

Besides all this rough exterior, Ichigo is a dork. He gets into petty pissing matches with his enemies, he argues and objects to the weirdest things in the most inconvenient situations [like insisting an enemy's powers are illogical right in the middle of battle,] and kind of nerds out when the subject is relevant to him. He's easily amazed by pretty mundane things- while at turns being completely unimpressed with extravagantly strange things [like Urahara's secret underground training area.] He's overly sensitive to girls being indecent and protests as loudly as possible when they aren't fully covered [even if he does take a peek] and generally well-mannered with girls who aren't Rukia.

He's a very proud and determined individual, and stubborn to boot. Once he has his mind set on something, you're going to need a lot of manpower to stop him from getting to it. He doesn't let other people stand in his way, and his ideals seem to be pretty unshakable. Ichigo's belief in his own abilities- something generally well founded- borders on ridiculous when he asserts that simply because he can't afford to lose, he will not. While this has pulled him through many battles, it leads to slip-ups when, on the rare occasion, he's absolutely wrong. Despite not being an overly arrogant person, he isn't afraid to talk trash against his enemies, especially when it gets an enraged response.

Raised with the firm belief that he had to protect everyone around him, Ichigo has largely been an independent guy since his mother died. That same belief has left Ichigo feeling completely responsible for those around him- family and friends alike. Not matter the circumstances, Ichigo would stop everything and run headlong into anything to help them out, and he's proven on several occasions that he's willing to even lay down his very life for those he cares about. While this is a good thing in some cases, it open Ichigo to a world of guilt for things that he simply cannot be expected to take care of. Every injury, every crisis, Ichigo feels responsible. This overwhelming urge- this need- to protect and take care of those he holds dear leads Ichigo to assume that he must do everything and his friends often get mad at him for treating them as if they are unable to do anything on their own. Indeed, people who try to fight alongside Ichigo often have to remind him that he isn't the only one capable of fighting, and he has slowly tried to learn to depend on his friends more- however, it's a long road ahead of him.

abilities:
are you ready for this? just going to link to descriptions for everyone's sanity.
  • SPIRITUAL AWARENESS: allows him to see ghosts/Arrancar/Shinigami/Vizards/whatever even in his human body. allows him to sense [with some effectiveness] other's spiritual ability. allows him to INTERACT with these creatures, physically and verbally.
  • SHINIGAMI POWERS: grants him a Zanpakutou [see next part], Konso, Shunpo, can see/interact with Reiraku, and the ability to do kido if he ever had the mind to try
  • ZANGETSU: his Zanpakutou- a blade made from a piece of his soul. It has TWO releases- the shikai and the bankai. His shikai gives him access to his main attack- Getsuga Tenshou- which is basically a concentrated crescent-shaped beam of energy. In bankai form ["Tensa Zangetsu"] Getsuga Tenshou gets more powerful and Ichigo's speed goes through the roof. Since it's a compact blade and condenses his power, it also allows Ichigo to stay in bankai longer than most Shinigami.
  • VIZARD POWERS: includes being able to summon a Hollow's mask, giving him increased speed/power/durability. He can also fire ceros in this form.
  • OTHER: Ichigo has also shown stranger abilities, including being able to survive a large hole in the chest by somehow Hollowfying himself. This form is insanely strong and fast, able to rip apart Ulquiorra without a problem, and can fire extremely strong ceros with minimal effort. But since Ichigo has no control over turning into this weird form, it's a safe assumption that he won't be doing it here.
I am GOING TO ASSUME since we're at level one powers that Ichigo isn't going to have access to most of these, which is fine since I realize he's one over powered shonen hero. If you have any major concerns with what he has available to him, then please feel free to hit me up with any questions!

any plans for your character here? NOPE.

possessions:
Ichigo will come packing the following: ZANGETSU, his starter level SHIHAKUSHOU, and nothing else really!

samples.
sample journal entry:
[VOICE]
-is is the voice? Ah. It's working. These buttons are too damn small.

[a pause, as if he hasn't decided what he wants to say yet, before he starts to mutter to himself]

Shit, where the hell am I? I've had enough new territory lately, I'm getting really sick of this.

[DEEP BREATH] The name's Kurosaki Ichigo, and whoever or whatever brought me here needs to speak up! I need some answers and you're going to give me them.

third-person sample:
When Ichigo opened his eyes again, he didn't get quite what he expected.

That oppressive weight on his shoulder had vanished and the reassuring warmth had gone with it. It hadn't been a familiar feeling, to be so comforted by his father's presence, but after everything he'd seen it had been a welcome one. To have it so abruptly removed was startling. Ichigo jerked in place and looked around frantically, wondering just what the hell had happened.

"Dad...?!" He called out, the panic in his chest jerking unpleasantly as his feet finally gave him the freedom to move. And then he was running- unsure of where he was but knowing he had to find allies and find them quickly if he wanted to survive. "Dad! Urahara-san?! Yoruichi-san!" Ichigo yelled out while the fear that had sat sickeningly in his stomach started to crawl up the back of his throat.

They were gone. Even if they hadn't been within his range of vision he could feel for miles that no one was near. Whatever had happened, wherever he now was, it was far away from that awful scene he'd born witness to just seconds before.

No sign of Aizen, and the man hadn't yet managed to put him under his spell so it was unlikely this whole thing was an illusion. But how could everyone disappear so swiftly- as if they'd never even been there at all? "Shit... Where the hell did everyone go...?"

As his heart started to slow and he started to calm, he couldn't ignore the slight relief he felt to be out of that situation. The ultimate realization that there had been absolutely no chance of winning that fight had finally managed to frighten him, something Gin had only taken a moment to notice. It shamed him to think it but being removed from Aizen's presence removed enough tension from his body that he almost fell to the ground.

Cowardly. The discomfort he felt at his own relief settled unpleasantly in his stomach despite his best efforts to stifle it. He didn't want to think about how gutless it was to be happy at a time like this.

"Hey! Can anyone hear me?!" He called out again, walking forward toward what looked like buildings with only a small amount of caution.

Maybe once he stopped being so damn relieved he'd be more annoyed, but right now? Right now this wasn't a bad change of pace.
