It's Inane Statement Time!

1) Jesus H. Christ, I'm so glad to be done with fucking Reed fucking College.

2) I finally listed something on Etsy! Dude! Check it out.

3) Speaking of Etsy, I met one of the sellers I adore tonight whilst at Plan B spinning fire for disaffected goths. She is awesome, and complimented the ridiculous hat I made.

4) I am tired.

Ridiculous hats are the asskickingest of hats, everyone should like them.

So, I'm considering moving to Portland in a year or two...Do you have any advice for me?

Do it! :D Portland is wonderful. It has its downsides: it's full of disaffected hipsters, people all drive like they're 90 years old *and* lost, the unemployment rate is very high, and the Oregon Liquor Control Commission are a bunch of fascists. But the upsides massively outweigh the downsides. The artistic community is huge and active, it's entirely affordable to live here (if you can find a job), there's tons of stuff to do, the food is stupendous. I love living here. Plus if you moved here I would totally hang out with you. My suggestion would be to try to find work before moving here - the job market may be better in a year or two, but to be honest Portland's unemployment rate has always been pretty bad. But if you can find work (or at least some promising interviews) before you move here, you should definitely do it. Portland kicks ass :D Feel free to e-mail me and bug me with questions about Portland! My e-mail's hayfoot (at) gmail dot com.

Entirely unrelated yo your post: I had a terrible dream about you last night. It was crazysauce.

Related to your post: Speaking of being done with Reed, does the library keep telling you that you've got books or overdue fines?

Nope, they haven't. Looks like the Reed Bureaucracy isn't done with you yet.

Also, terrible dream eep O_O

Also, a question - McG and I want to go to the coast tomorrow to escape the forthcoming 100+ degree heat. However, since neither of us have ever been there, we have no conception of where to go other than "the coast". Got any suggestions of particular beaches/coast towns/stuff?

Avoid Cannon Beach and Seaside. Horribly touristy.

My very favorite is Pacific City (just google directions to the Pelican Brew Pub), though I plan on taking another group trip there when I get back so you may want to hold off on going there. Lincoln City isn't bad, or you can do Manzanita (there's hiking around-ish)/Garibalbi/Rockaway, which are also not too far from the Tillamook Cheese Factory. If you don't mind a loooong drive, I'd say check out the Devil's Punchbowl. Hands-down the best tidepools in Oregon (+ seals!), but like I said, it'd quite a drive.

Even though this wasn't directed at me, I am a fan of Lincoln City. It is quite lovely and tends to be less crowded than some of the other locations. : )

Those falls are GORGEOUS. What's the story on weaves, baby? I wants them. I've been growing my hair out specifically to get a sweet yarn weave.
