Date: Sunday, April 18, 2010 - Early Morning
Location: Ishida's favorite training spot - Living World
Summary: Orihime's sharpening her skills, and would gladly welcome a sparring partner.
Wading into the middle of the streambed, Orihime began to realize that it might have been a good idea to wear a shorter skirt. It would have given her legs more room to move, and it also probably wouldn't be soaking wet if she'd picked something that went to her knees instead of mid-calf.
Still, she'd already had her heart set on this. The spring thaw made the water deeper than she expected, but that was all right. She would just be that much tougher when she was finished!
Why the river? Well... Because the constant push of the current would help improve her balance and fortitude. It was a distraction that she would learn to endure and ignore. It was also really cold. One more distraction to endure and ignore, then! Besides, all the really great fighters ended up training in water at one point or another. If she'd been a little more ignorant about water pressure, she might have even tried practicing beneath the waterfall. But she wasn't that foolish.
After preparing breakfast and setting it out on the table early that morning, Orihime quickly penned a note and left it next to the bowl of fresh-cut melon so that no one would worry about where she'd run off to.
Gone to train for a bit! I wanted to try that place you used when Yoruichi and Sado and I asked you if you wanted to train with us. I'll be back before lunch!
--Inoue Orihime
Though she hadn't expressly asked for it, Orihime secretly hoped that Uryuu might opt to spar a little with her. She knew he preferred to train on his own, so she hadn't wanted to put him on the spot. If she'd asked him outright, she knew he would accept even if he didn't want to. He was a really nice guy! So hopefully the decision would be his, without any undue influence on her part.
"Eeeeee..." she murmured, shivering as she stood in the center of the streambed. The water was much colder than she'd expected! At least it wasn't raining, she thought, to boost her morale. Rain would have been super cold! It would get warmer as the day went on, and when she was finished, she could bask on the bank and let her skirt dry out. That would be wonderful!
"All right!" she clapped her palms together, bowing her head and closing her eyes. Summoning her spiritual strength, she released the Shun Shun Rikka from her hairpins. Shards of light broke away, taking shape into six small fairy-like spirits. Her hair hung loosely down her shoulders and back, and she made a mental note to bring some sort of ribbon or extra clip next time so she could keep it from blowing into her face. "Let's go, you guys!"
