Mar 28, 2010 21:06

[PLEASE NOTE THIS IS PART ONE OF TWO!]Today marked a new day in the history of the shinigami, their second soutaichou since forming as an established Gotei with structure and command. This man or woman would lead them through the post-war chaos and eventually there was hope they could be led once more to independence ( Read more... )

[Watching Ukitake, although um obviously it is not time to run up and talk to him, and actually smiling a little. Because, well, Soul Society's putting itself together into a smooth order again, even if the ultimate authority is wrong.]

[thought about snubbing the invitation, but the chance to defy his father is always heady, and it's true this is a hallmark moment - something to be remembered]

[so he stands next to Ichigo in full Quincy costume, stoically watching the proceedings. He knows little about Ukitake beyond his brief meeting with the man and Kurosaki's recommendation of him. ...But that is, perhaps, enough]

[the choice could always have been worse]

[Does not look as presentable as Ishida even if he's more enthused about this]

[Doesn't have that freshly-bathed, freshly-showered look]

He couldn't help but grin. After all, a promotion like this didn't come every day. Hell, it had never even happened in his life time! And it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy and his vice-captain. He snuck a thumbs up to Captain Ukitake, who was looking, well, happy and healthy. Like a soutaichou should!

Things were going to be a hell of a lot different around here with Ukitake-taichou in charge, that was for sure. He toyed around with the idea of suggesting a Gotei-wide naptime, then discarded it. Maybe in a few decades it'd be prudent to bring up, but they had so much real work to do first!

Ukitake's eye caught Kaien's and he smiled a little wider; it was the only thing that could have made this better was the presence of the man he considered like a son, one he had thought long dead and now back by his side once more.

[From far, far away, Pesche approves heartily of the nice shinigami who did not kill him being made the sous t'achoo of this place!]

Hanatarou was honoured to be able to see Captain Ukitake about to become the new Soutaichou, and felt grateful to the man for his willingness to provide structure once again after all that had happened.

"Some ceremony, huh?" came a voice from behind him.

A bit startled, Hanatarou turned to face the source of the voice.

"Yes, it's very impressive." He smiled softly, trying to keep his focus on the ceremony at least a little bit. It wouldn't be right to disregard something so important even if he were going to speak with someone for a little bit.

"I'm grateful to be here."

"Aaaah, I'm just grateful it gets me away for a few hours." He shrugged, smoking calmly. "Not like this really matters anyway, right?"

[There's a runt standing near his elbow, holding an elegant scroll under her arm. --Wait, that's no runt, it's a Hisana! And she's just now noticing that the man beside her is a familiar face.]

Oh? Good morning, Captain. I trust you were able to locate your division?

"Huh?" Kenpachi looked down at the small woman who had approached him. It was the Kuchiki woman. What was with all the fucking dead people around this place lately? "Yeah, we did. No thanks to my lieutenant." Where was that girl, anyway? If he had to be here, she should be, too.

Don't ask Hisana. She's got a bad history of losing small children.

She chuckled quietly. "She's a very spirited young lady." Which meant that Hisana liked her, very much. Precocious as Yachiru might be, she was still adorable. "If I might ask, how did she come to take her place as your lieutenant?"
