Woes of a conspicuous consumer

PAL and SECAM do not nessiarily have better quality video. Check the frame rates. We get 30fps while they have 25fps. It's a comprimise of sorts. HDTV should have the same worldwide standard.

I purchased the first season of Babylon 5 from e-bay about four years ago only to find that they were all in PAL format upon recipt. That sucked.

I have a DVD on my Multitainer (PC in a case like a video) and I havent tried foreign DVDs. But I know theres a file to download for it to deregionalise it. I suppose you could download something similar if you found it for any DVD. But Im not sure. PAL NTSC and SECAM are about TV screens as far as I know but I dont know if they apply to monitors. I dont use the DVD very much.

Thanks. I came across some in my web searches this morning, some for as cheap as $200, but I just can't afford that right now seeing as I have a perfectly good DVD player already, and so I guess this particular DVD can wait (in the meanwhile I've downloaded most of the song clips from it anyway, which is actually what made me want to get the DVD in the first place).
