Ha! I wasn't impressed by Tess of the D'Ubervilles either. It was crap. I couldn't remember what it was about till I saw your comment and it brought to mind the reasons I hated it, namely, that all the characters are assholes.

Just finished reading "Making Money" by Pterry, though. I'm lending it to like three or four people. You need to read this, it's one of his especially good ones ;)

Read it? HAH. I got it out of the library within a week of it coming out! I'm just waiting for it to come into paperback so I can get it - I actually have all of his discworld paperback books except for 2 (Equal rites, and Eric). Thanks to Karen I now own the big illustrated book as well (the last hero). Steal the icons at your leisure - I got them from a terry pratchett site...actually except for the obviously Stargate ones they are all pratchett. My default is something Susan (Death's Granddaughter if you've not read her stuff) says. I find it particularly accurate...

Actually we've been known to quote Susan around the house, and another phrase you'll often here among my group is "that is an abomination unto Nuggan." I've read most of it but have generally passed all the books I've owned to other people, and the rest I've borrowed from the library.

Seriously, at the moment I can't get the image of that guy's rotted finger out of my head. Thanks for that, Terry. He just had to add the final little comment about the green mushrooms :p

i am too lazy to do the meme. however, i am pleased to say I have read 32. which suprises me because i read as much as i breathe, but traditionally i read junk-food-fiction like Dean Koontz and Nora Roberts. So I feel all smart-like that I read "great books."

Chris is annoyed that there is no Jules Verne on this list.

PS: 36 and 33 kinda.... make no sense to be two seperate books. Same with 14 and 98. But I'm just saying.....

So I googled Big Read and the list that is above is pretty paltry. It makes me feel better because there I'm a voracious reader as well, and felt the number was rather paltry...anyway...

I like Nora Roberts too... :)
