Just watched all three episodes of Sherlock.

Wow.

That is all.

Did you love it? I did. (We just watched the last episode last night, too.)

I don't know if I loved it yet (I need to reflect on it a bit more), but I know that I want more. I watched all three in short order and was utterly engrossed.

I'm conflicted by it. On one hand, I can see all the flaws that infuriate people. On the other hand I want to rub John and Sherlock all over myself.

Mostly the second one.

The flaws like the implausibility of the villains and the incredibly obvious identity of the serial suicider in A Study in Pink? And that they went to great pains to discourage the HoYay! in the text? (Silly television writers. They don't realize that only makes us stronger...)

Regardless, I enjoyed it. I'm not sure I want to rub them on myself, but I am gagging for more.

Oh wow. I didn't think they discouraged any HoYay! at all. They encouraged it. They're out with it ( ... )

Darling, HoYay! was a specific term for the Lex/Clark dynamic on Smallville, and it doesn't mean that there is no homosexual content to the program. The HoYay! was the barely concealed ho-moments between Lex and Clark (e.g. the eyefucking, the looking each other over, the being jealous of the other's romantic partners, etc...) I got absolutely no HoYay! from Sherlock, and the only times I've ever seen more attestations of heterosexuality was from the Bert character in Avenue Q. ("My girlfriend Alberta, she lives in Vancouver.")

I agree with you that Sherlock is portrayed as completely asexual; I'm guessing that BC's take on Sherlock views sex as "boring" and not a little distasteful. So alas, no HoYay! for the fangirls... which just means that they'll have to make their own. You know how slash writers like to put asexual characters in ponn farr-like situations to break them out of their shells. (Probably as much as I like reading them.)

I think you'll really like it. I think you should watch the first three episodes and then we can have Sherlock watching parties.
