Today I repotted a couple of my plants, so I decided to take some pictures as I did it.

As always, many pictures under the cut )

i am bookmarking this as a particularly excellent how-to guide. ...and as soon as payday hits, i'm getting some potting soil and fertilizer for my poor babies.

and throwing out the miracle-gro, i swear.

I don't remember who asked me to make this post, but I hope it helps anyone who wants it.

Miracle Gro is truly evil. There is nothing that they make that I would buy! Miracle Gro makes your plants huge and lush and you think "omg this stuff is awesome" and then a year later they die and you don't know why.

well, here's the thing about plants. i love em. but i seem to be a perfect moron with them. this may be, in fact, because i use miracle-gro and such. but on top of that, i don't know how to pot them well, i don't know what to pot them IN well, i just...i am epic fail.

meanwhile my mom does exactly what i do, ignores her plants except to maybe dump some water on them, and they WILL NOT DIE. i don't get it.

i get the feeling that this is much like college: i.e., i know that there is SO MUCH THAT I DON'T KNOW that i'm overwhelmed and cry when i think about even starting. but i'm pretty sure that at least with this post read i can toss out the miracle-gro (which i was too lazy to use most times anyway, ha!) and do a decentish job of repotting.

Don't cry! I lose plants sometimes, too. It makes me sad, but nobody is perfect.

I plan to make another two posts this spring - one about watering, and one about pruning. Improper watering is a huge cause of plant death!
