with the arrival of evan to the risley social scene comes the reiteration of the constant realization that I am not cool or popular and never will have lots of friends or be a friendly person or know lots of people or have a good time going to clubs with lots of people or have people look forward to seeing me in the same droves that evan naturally

You have many friends. And Evan is a special case, he has animal magnetism or something. Pretty much no one is as popular as Evan.

the freshmen have more on-campus friends than I do. and somehow they all know and spend tons of time with evan. despite his having graduated already. everyone wants evan to come and hang with them. I have a small group of people who tolerate me more than getting a root canal.

of course there's a gap there. I'm just saying I wish it wasn't so wide.
