LJ Cut & Spot

Um.. I'm kinda new at these LJ thingy (although I've made this account since.. -uh I forgot- but I still don't understand many things about LJ) so.. Would someone help me?

My questions are..
1. How to use LJ Cut?
2. How to make spots for people in a post?

and as for spot, it's actually not a particular features on LJ. it just the same as you put down your bag in the empty chair in your class to mark it. just leave a comment to indicated that you will comment later on it (reply on the 'spot' comment) but on my opinion, spot isn't really necessary :) comment alone will do, no matter where your comment will be placed.
