Gabrielle called back as soon as she emerged from a section of the library stacks with bad phone reception, and the message came through.

"Dinah? It's Gabrielle. Are you there?"

Dinah was in between classes, thankfully, so she managed to answer, "Yeah, it's me. I got a text from Karla at oh-dark-thirty, and now nothing. Do you know what's going on?"

"Not much more than you do," Gabrielle answered, leaning against one of the shelves somewhere in the 400s and rubbing at her eyes; her voice sounded gritty and tired, which probably hinted at being woken up at oh-dark-thirty and not being able to sleep much afterward. "Just that she woke up from a bad dream and got right on the phone to Portalocity, and that it was bad."
