We've both felt a cat wanking on the bed, on us even, with nothing there. Eeerie but comforting, as we know who it is.

It is a bit eerie, but I didn't feel any fear, and the other cats were perfectly fine. No hissing or growling. That's the main reason I remain calm with I hear noises. I figure, if they are calm, then they sense no danger or evil.

Had they been hissing and growling and spitting, I'd have pooped my undies!

They sense them, so if there is no hissing, that's a good thing, it's a friend.

I thought the same. I've had 4 other cats in my life. Two I only had for a couple of weeks, and two were mauled by a dog. It could be any one of the four, or all four.

If they are my past cats, I'm overjoyed that they want to be around me and my present brood.

well cats are naturally nocturnal, so I guess it is no surprise if someone decides to get up and mess about....

Mine are pretty good about sleeping through most of the night. They do start to move about around 4 or 5 on some nights, but for the most part they hang with me upstairs.
