I agree with everything here. I'm an optimist, and it's really hard to be that sometimes. I haven't gone through anything traumatic or more painful than a self-inflicted broken heart or saying goodbye to old friends, but my dad is either bipolar or has some pretty hefty depression (maybe both), and I've got a touch of that in me. I flip-flop between emotions so fast I can hardly keep up with myself sometimes, but I try to stay positive and make sure everyone else sees that even if the world is going to heck there's a bright spot to every day. Not trying to creep on your moment of glory (and this IS glorious), just trying to say that I relate.
In short, preach it, sistah. :D
