How about something that's not the Rift making everyone blab their business?

[starting off with a joke? at least he tries]I know a lot of Wanderers have come through recently, and while I try to talk to a lot of you, I can't always. Regardless, my name is Detective Don Flack, and back home I used to work for the New York Police Department. I'm ( Read more... )

Detective Flack:

Hello. I don't believe we are are acquainted. My name is Mio Hongo, and I am the Acting Commander of Torchwood Chicago.

Traditionally, Torchwood has handled most matters regarding law enforcement and security (among other things) among the Wanderer community. However, considering how Torchwood is perennially understaffed, I would not necessarily be opposed to splitting off police duties into a separate unit.

If at all possible, I would like to have a meeting in person. You can find my contact info below.

Regards,

Mio Hongo
Acting Commander, Torchwood Chicago

It would also be good to have Torchwood and a police force separate in that sense. Jack wouldn't let me join Torchwood, because he said the community needed a leader to look up to and people would fear the enforcers. He said they didn't need leaders who were enforcers and that Torchwood was set up to deal with the worst and that they work from the shadows in that sense. Perhaps doing what needs to be done no matter what that means.

The police force could then be more out in the open with that work that they do. They could use the laws that Rachel and I set up together a long time ago to solve wanderer related cases as well.

There's enough police work to go around in this city at any rate, and most of it is ignored by the actual police because they involve wanderers.

She was amazing, wasn't she?

Rachel.

She would be so pleased you were continuing her work.

I would definitely love for the force and Torchwood to work together on occasion. I've been here for a year, but I definitely don't have enough experience with the supernatural or alien to handle a certain level of cases.

I was thinking that the force could be for a bit more of the ... mundane end of things. More of the day-to-day kind of stuff.

She really was. And she was better at this addressing the masses thing than I am.

I would love for it too, and I think it would be very important in some of the larger cases where we've got murders for instance. It would be best for all involved to use as many resources as possible.

Yes, I think that's what is needed. As I said, it was initially Jack's intention that Torchwood be what can work in the shadows.

I don't think you did bad at all. Anyway, it is something that you can grow into to a certain extent, and I really appreciate this as well.

If there's anything you should need from me, let me know. I'd do whatever it is to the best of my ability, and I'll send people and potential cases your way.

What about age? Does that matter?

I mean I won't trick myself into believing I'd be the best choice you have for this, but it might be kinda nice. To have something to do. Something worth while.

So long as you're at least eighteen, age isn't an issue.

What kind of work would you be looking for?

I'm twenty-two.

And I don't know. Something just made me respond to you, that's all. It might be silly.

Twenty-two, isn't too young.

[there's a pause]

Have any reception experience?

Detective, as you know, I'm not a police officer, but my scientific skills can be invaluable to you during investigations. I would certainly be more than willing to take up the position of medical examiner, should you need me.

Doc, I would love a medical examiner. Chicago definitely has plenty of dead bodies to go around.

I got military experience. Might be considered unconventional, since it was of the Archangel sort but, that counts, right?

Military experience is definitely something I can work with. Have you ever done investigative work?

Nothing official, but I've been head of some of the patrol committees within the Kashtta, which involved search groups when someone went missing.

That's enough for me. Why don't you come down to the office sometime this week and we'll talk?
