Teaching [for Logan] (current)

Jean lay in bed, her back butted against Logan's chest, her fingers trailing over the back of his hand and up his arm as it rested against her thigh. His breath on her neck was comforting to her, and the fact that it was was driving her up a wall. She couldn't sleep. Her connection to Logan had become a weakness, and she needed to make sure she ( Read more... )

Waking up, Logan took a deep breath and sighed, before slowly opening his eyes. For once in his life, his first thought wasn't about what might be wrong. He'd slept surprisingly well. It felt so good, sharing a bed with Jean. Made him feel... calm, somehow. All nights he'd spent here, he hadn't even had any nightmares. He wasn't counting on that to last, but it was damn good while it did.

"Hey, baby."

He offered a sleepy smile, then, finding that his arm was already around her, pulled her closer - a gesture more than anything, since she was up against him already - closing his eyes again as he pressed his lips against hers. It wasn't much of a kiss; he just wanted her as close to him as she could possibly be.

She tucked her arm under his and let her hand rub over his lower back, affection for affection's sake. It was strange that she wasn't thinking about every movement, analyzing it, making sure that she was getting maximum outcome for her efforts. She just touched him, her fingers trailing down his back before tucking under his shirt, fingertips tracing absentminded patterns across his warm skin.

"I can't sleep," she said in a hushed whisper. She brushed her lips over his, watching him as his eyes closed again. "I'm... I'm kind of worried about something." Her tone was tentative, like she was worried about his reaction.

"Are you okay?"

He took his time to wake up properly, taking another deep breath to take in her smell, enjoying her fingers on his back. The beds might be crappy, the camp as a whole not much better, and the weather damn cold, but being here, with her, he was in his own little space, and all the shit that was going on around him didn't seem to matter as much.

When Jean spoke again, he opened his eyes, his brow furrowing a bit in confusion. There was something in her voice that cut through the last shreds of fog in his brain, finally making him alert.

"I'm fine. What is it, Red?"

She could tell when she had his attention, feeling his body tensing slightly from the sleeping state. Jean pulled back and looked up at him, raising an eyebrow. She had to approach this gently, the soft sell. Logan didn't much like telepathy, she'd learned. Maybe it was just the sheer volume of memory going through his head (which she still found fascinating, but didn't traipse around in anymore for some reason) that made him uncomfortable with her knowing what was going on. Maybe it was just his need for privacy.

Whatever the case, she couldn't just throw the 'hey, let me help you do things to your brain' statement out there without prefacing it first.

"I'm worried about you." The statement was true enough, perhaps more true than Jean was willing to let herself admit or understand. Her hand moved from under his shirt to smooth over his cheek, coming to rest on the side of his neck. She leaned in again and kissed him, not even thinking about the movement. "Are you... sure you're okay?"
