"Give me your wand."
Sirius gazed blankly at Lily. She couldn't be serious, could she? But she was holding out her hand. "Lils, I swear--"
"No. Things right now are a little dicey. The last thing I need is you with a wand right here."
For a very long moment they stared one another down outside the shop before Sirius heaved an exaggerated sigh and handed his wand over to her.
"Wait here," she said before she turned to step into the shop.
"All right, fine," he called after her. "But if Bellatrix comes trotting down here and I die - again! - because you took my wand, I refuse to be responsible for the guilt that'll be on your head." He scoffed and crossed his arms over his chest, and reasoned that if it had been anyone besides Lily for anyone other than Remus, there wasn't a chance in hell he would have let go of his wand.
He still didn't know what the hell was up with her lately, and if James knew, he hadn't said. Though really, he wasn't even sure James knew. Everyone had been kind of mum on the topic, though he'd been spending a lot of his free time out of the house. Maybe the whole mess had been resolved and no one had mentioned.
He doubted it though.
Exhaling a sigh, he waited for Lils and Remus to come out.
___________
Lily had simply expected Remus to be ... well, about. Perhaps still in the workroom or something, but present. She knew Sev would be here, and that was part of the reason she'd kept Sirius outside - she didn't need to add to the situation. With Sirius' wand held loosely in one hand, she eased into the shop. Her head tilted as her brow furrowed curiously, and she bit lightly at her lower lip.
Something felt ... off.
For a moment she wondered if something had gone badly wrong the night before, and she felt her heart kick up a notch or two. Oh, god, what if Remus had killed him? What if the potion had gone all sorts of bad, and --
-- but no. That wasn't likely, and wouldn't there have been reports of a wolf on the loose?
Maybe it was too early for that.
Lily frowned at her thought and licked her lips. "Hello?" she called quietly before she moved cautiously toward Sev's workroom. It was a place to start, after all.
