No he doesn't know. He doesn't get it. And although he claims he's okay with it, he still has little ways of asserting himself. He asks you the sexualities of your roommates before signing the lease, how many of your friends are gay, how often you hang out with those friends. Is it affecting you? Then he questions whether or not it's okay for your friends to stay in your room when you bring them home to visit. It stings a little every time because he sees himself as accepting and understanding, when what he really is, is tolerating. And tolerating means that you aren't normal, you're outside everybody else. But he loves you so you let it slide. And her, she gives you two options - silence (she pretends to forget so that you can have vapid conversations) or screaming (you are a mothered orphin). You start to think that if there is no stability in the body you came from that there must not be stability anywhere. That's reason enough to lose it. So you do. Then you take a breath, tell yourself to give it time, because you've given it ( ... )
