http://www.careerjournal.com/jobhunting/negotiate/index.html
This website has a lot of different things you might find useful to read... although it might be info overload.
Suggestions for negotiation:
Pay; holidays/sick leave; work hours - overtime, flexi; expense allowances; office conditions; travel opportunities; promotion opportunities; equipment (eg for your convenience/use when you're travelling on work); car or transport expenses; mobile phone

Email me who the little company/people involved are..... or ask anyone else you know outside your current company. Small companies are all about the people who set them up.

Also - working for a little company means (as you said) the chance to be taken over etc. - can you handle stress like not actually being able to plan a year in advance cos you dont know whether you'll have a job or not? Can your mortgage?!

Having said that - little companies are a lot more satisfying/interesting (look for a chance to get involved in the business side so you can set up your own), the industry is so good at the moment that if you're unemployed in a year finding another job will be very easy, and your current company does your head in. Sooo.....

I don't think that anyone who can divine the arcane difference between chalk and cheese or granite and basalt is short of opportunities at the moment ( ... )
