everyone is entitled to their own opinion but i fail to understand how you would chose to be oppressed but alive. you might physically be alive in the sense that your body would function. but how can your soul and your mind endure such a thing?

you have to realize that first off, there are different levels of oppression...not having freedom of speech or freedom to vote or women not having freedom to choose their husband, or being treated unfairly due to color, sex, etc...those freedoms are part of our everyday lives and yes we would suffer without them BUT there are other things to live for such as our families and our friends...it is human nature to survive...the desire to live is engraved in our genetic makeup. i would much rather not be able to publicly speak my mind, or be treated differently because of my race or sex than be dead. also you have to realize that oppression might not last forever. uprisings and outside forces can change those factors...i dont know about you but im not willing to give up that easily.
