Our society is so weird. The reaction to this Paris Hilton thing is crazy. Everyone hates that she is rich from inheritance and lives a gaudy lifestyle. Everyone hates that she is so famous and has no talent. Everyone thinks she is an idiot and the epitome of shallowness and stupidity. Everyone loves that she is going to jail. I just don't get it.

I agree. I think Paris Hilton, or whoever's behind her public image, is actually very smart. She has created the persona that is likely to get her the most fame and recognition, even if that recognition is a weird mixture of envy and scorn. What I don't get is why anyone would want to be reviled like that. I'd be quite happy sitting with my massive inheritance outside of the media's direct attention without drawing all that negative attention to myself.

I think some people just want to be famous and she has money and could party with celebs so has tried to be known for something other than being rich...but she is mostly just infamous. I think she doesn't like the scorn but it comes when you are desperate and put yourself out there as if you are talented. But when you are rich first no one wants to like you because of that "she's so lucky" envy...but she doesn't look lucky to me. Money can't buy respect.
