Xmas time is here

My mom gave me an early Xmas present: The Portable Atheist. It is a new book, compiled by Christopher Hitchens, that includes excerpts from every great thinker you could imagine. I've been thinking recently about Einstein's famous quote, "Imagination is more important than knowledge." I can't wrap my mind around that one. I used to think it was a great saying. Imagination = creativity = artist impulses = thinking outside of the box = finding new solutions.

But lately I'm equating "imagination" with religious delusions and that puts a different spin on old Einstein's words here.

Considering this excerpt taken from a letter that Einstein wrote to a friend; I would lean more toward your fist impression (which is pleasing to think about).

"It was, of course, a lie what you have read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but expressed it clearly. If something If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it."
