From my friend

Comment on this post and I will choose seven interests from your profile. You will then explain what they mean and why you are interested in them. Post this along with your answers in your own journal so that others can play along.
It's been a while.
Arashi: A five man “boy band” - vocal group - out of Japan. They have some excellent songs (Right Back to You, Sakura Sake), and are known for music, acting, and the variety show they… host? Participate in? I’m not sure. The line-up, oldest to youngest: Ohno Satoshi (with the best voice - I can listen to him for hours - and WOW can he dance), Sakurai Sho (who is a news caster and a graduate from Keio University), Aiba Masaki, Ninomiya Kazunari (who stared in Letters from Iwo Jima), and Matsumoto Jun (youngest, heartthrob, actor - people who get into Arashi through him are called “Jun-bait”). The reason they’re on my list is totally
hakkais_shadow’s fault. Although I also have to mention that I love him for it...>
LDS/Mormon - my religion. I don’t represent it well here, which is something I need to change, but the beliefs and what the religion stands for has shaped me through my life.
Saiyuki: An anime, an odd mixture of mythology and future - as in, Hakkai has a dragon that transforms into a jeep. It goes from there. I have seen all but the last two disks of the first season, and I still want to know what happens. Deals with demons, humans, their interactions, and all sorts of VERY fun stuff. The best opening song I’ve heard in a long time is at the beginning of the first six episodes (or so, I can’t remember exactly any more). Also due to
hakkais_shadow (and where he gets his journal name).
Super Junior: Oh, they’re FUN. A thirteen man “boy band” (closer to the definition, at least in age, than Arashi) from Korea. The first video I remember seeing from them,
“TWINS (Knock Out)” is one of the most visually stunning pieces of choreography I’ve ever seen (you can do a lot with twelve people - the last hadn’t joined them yet at that point). They have been divided into a few subgroups: KRY - this consists of KyuHyun, Ryeowook, and Yesung (yes, a brilliant bit of naming, don’t you think?), the three best vocalists of the group. They did the
“The Night Chicago Died”, and I don’t think they actually ever said Chicago in the song. The only subgroup that never released their own album (although if rumor is right, that might change). Super Junior T (Trot) - Did a mini album, consisted of LeeTeuk (leader and “mother” of the group), Kangin (the “father” of the group), SungMin (the one who likes pink), ShinDong (somewhat larger than your average boy band member, but brilliant dancer and great rapper), Heechul (nicknamed Cinderella (Rella), and likes it), and EunHyuk (also a rapper, cute). The third group came out earlier this year (2008), Super Junior Mandarin: This group consisted of Hankyung (Actually from China, ended up in Korea through a competition - trained in ballet and 56 different traditional dances. So yeah, he can dance. And he’s HOT when he’s blond), Siwon (the ABS. Wow.), DongHae (dancer, cute), KyuHyun (from K.R.Y.) and Ryeowook (same as KyuHyun, with a fabulous voice and cheekbones to die for, not to mention one of the more unpronounceable names in the group) - and two additional people not actually part of Super Junior: Henry Lau, a violinist from Canada (and you should SEE this kid play violin. I can’t do that when I’m NOT playing violin. He’s VERY good - and featured in the main group's
Don't Don video), and Zhou Mi (also from China. I don’t know much about him at all). And then the latest subgroup, formed due to HeeChul going off to do a play (and possibly getting the pin in his leg from a former accident removed), Super Junior Happy. This is the the same basic line up as SuJu T, with Yesung instead of Heechul (and wow, I have no idea what he’s doing there, as he doesn’t quite fit the cutesie image). The last member is named Kibum, and apparently, he’s an actor and therefore has no time for anything but actual Super Junior events, etc. The reason they’re on my list is also totally
hakkais_shadow’s fault.
There’s a lot of history of accidents, and other things going on, but I won’t go into that…. I would kill to hear these guys perform a capella, even if it would never happen.
Bleach: an anime and manga I’ve wanted to read / watch for a while, but have never quite gotten around to it (in some part because it’s not readily available at the library). The main character is named Ichigo (Strawberry, and yes, he’s male), and talks to spirits. And then one day meets someone who goes after the evil spirits and sort of… takes her place. It just looked like fun.
Prince of Tennis: a manga I started because it WAS readily available at the library, and an anime I have now watched most of online. There are also musicals based on these. Oh, and a live-action movie. The odd thing about this? I dislike the main character. There is so little redeemable about Echizen Ryoma… but, oh. The people he meets. That’s something else. There are a lot of people, diverse situations, and it’s just great fun. A lot of my most recent fanfiction has been based around this bunch - I still have about 20 to write for the Fudomine school for
fanfic100. And THEY are fun. I currently also co-mod and play two characters in an AU/future rp called Tenipuri University (that is the weird abbreviation for Prince of Tennis - which is better than the English PoT…).
Advent Children: The reason I got onto livejournal in the first place. A move based directly on the Video Game Final Fantasy VII - takes place two years after, in fact. I saw the ad for it when walking around the mall, and decided to check it out because it looked like fun. Within the first five minutes, I was lost - and then Cloud pulled out his sword (they know his stats, so someone figured out the sword was five foot tall and one foot wide) and from the front of his motorcycle - and I didn’t CARE that I had no clue. The disk came with a basic rundown of the game, and then I looked it up online, and I was hooked. Took two years to finish that claim, but I finally did. I do suggest at least reading the storyline from the game before watching the movie (although that is fairly time-consuming as it is), or go through the short (well, 30 minute, probably) synopsis supplied on the disk. Because really? Sephiroth’s seven-foot sword is nearly as fascinating as the Tsurugi.
