How come animals don't live as long as human beings?

Maggie, my Golden Retriever, is getting quite old. She only has (maybe) a couple yrs left, but she's only nine and a half. Her arthritis is really taking a toll on her. I hope she has a few more years in her.

I think I'll ask God why animals don't live as long as humans when I meet him.

you know--that's an interesting question. I just realized that Daisy won't live forever either. She's 13 already :-(

well...daisy is a mixed between a golden retriever and a collie. collies have a long lifespan--i think it's 16-18 years, but i have my doubts that my dog would live that long.
