Anti war people wouldn't be complaining so much if 9/11 had happened in their town, in their school, or their homes. Maybe that's what it takes for them to understand... but our troops our fighting so they don't have to experiance. Being anti war is one thing, but they can atleast support the men and women fighting for us.
And Of course we are free.... free to express our selves in any way possible, and if that means making Splash Mountain into "Flash Moutain" then so be it.
then again dahling, public nudity is illegal. Oh well, won't be the first illegal thing I've done in my time.
Exactly, they aren't there fighting and they can't see what those soliders see. There will always be protests of anti-war. Because we live in a free country where we're allowed to have our own opinion. In Iraq as an Iraqi citizen, if you say you hate Saddam and you think its wrong how he's going about dictating the country, you're shot. Wouldn't it be nice to see those people have the same rights that we do?
I couldn't agree with you more. Besides, anti-war people are hypocrates anyway because they're starting a "war" between those who do and do not believe in war by protesting, anyway.
the black bands don't reflect any opinion towards the soldiers. supporting the war and supporting the soldiers are two different things. i agree, it is important to support the soldiers, but what are they fighting for if people can't voice their opinions here at home? I think the parallel between protesting and "starting a war" or disavowing our servicemen is a little extreme. The black bands are a form of peaceful protest and isn't it great that we live in a country where people still take so much stock in non-violent methods such as this? And that protest isn't even directed towards the military. It's directed towards the policy makers, towards those men and women who sent the soldiers to iraq in the first place.
first of all, we don't hear half of what goes on inside the walls of our congress and the white house. there could be reasons that we don't know that they US Senate wants to keep out of the public. War is a horrible thing, it destroys life. But war has been proven to work. Murderers don't do diplomacy and they don't sign peacy treaties. They just kill. Don't care who it is, they just kill. When a dictator who has "no nuclear weapons" moves orphanages into military bases and the nuclear bombs that he "doesn't have" into hospitals, that's when a country with an army twice the size of his needs to step in. I completely respect you opinion in what not, but don't say war isn't the answer when you don't have a better one

I don't for a second claim to know everything about what's going on around us. for all I know war IS the necessary. i was just commenting that the black bands aren't a means of attacking the soldiers.
the soliders are what keep us safe and our FOR our country. Wearing the black bands are a disrespectful to them. Believe, I know because I watched a guy that I have known for about a year now thanks to karate get called in. His personal opinion of the black bands is that if you aren't going to support you're country, get out and support another one. I don't feel as strongly as he does because I didn't live in Kuwait during the Gulf War, but I can see where he is coming from.
now i'm not at all a pacifist, i think that violence is neccesary alot (if not most) of the time. but come on the us government has no place in kicking out saddam hussien. you might not know this but US companies, with the express permisson of the US government sold saddam chemical weapons. and when he used him on the kurds and iranians we didn't even register a complaint. now i'm happy that saddam and his sons are probably dead, but i don't think george bush is going to help the people of iraq, hes just gonna put in another saddam who is more freindly to US oil companies. oh and don't give me that bullshit about the US government's "love for democracy." you probably don't know what we did in (in no particular order) chile, turkey, iran, brazil, agentina, loas, cambodia and maaaaaaannnnnnnnnny more. oh and when i protest against the war i'm doing it in large part because i don't want our troops dying for a pointless cause.
oh and i'm sorry but i'm causing a war by protesting, people are fucking stupid
when has war ever served as a means to freedom in the last 200 years? its been a tool of the powerful to control and exploit the resources of other countries. like the previous person said the us has done this in more than its fair share of countries just as great britain once did. most people who protest wars are agains the wanton and senseless death that happens in war, not agains those who put their lives on the line. look at vietnam, the us (even the experts on the subject) have admitted the war was outside of our bounds, and there were hundreds more dying per week than anything in iraq or afganistan. people have become so blinded with patriotism they fail to see our leaders breaching the freedoms of other countries. there was a saying that ive seen coming back from vietnam, "we're not against the soldiers, we're against the war." and there is a huge difference between the courageous subordinates and the foreing mis-policy that has unjustly led them to fight for a less than worthy cause. the us will profit off iraq, dick
