I'd be very surprised if there hasn't already been such an increase. Doesn't seem to have occurred to the people putting these draconian measures in place that if you make life difficult for people who are sick/disabled the chances of them being able to get back into work is actually reduced. *rolls eyes*
I read this yesterday and it's bloody stupid. I've emailed my local MP's, Conservative and Lib Dem to see what they're take on this is, and if they plan on implementing it should they get in. Still not heard anything back though, but i'd suggest everyone send the link to their candidates and hassle them about it (abolish it or no vote, plus threaten with organisations etc).
Under these new rules my friend will have an imaginary wheelchair with which to get to an imaginary work place where he'll have help and an adapted bathroom with shower.. Deaf people can't be deaf if they can see, and blind people are ok if they can hear.. all i can say is WTF!
Disgusting. I am also in the first stages of getting ESA but I know I will not pass the medical because although I am in a lot of pain I can still move around.
Putting all these people on JSA is ridiculous. There are simply not enough jobs, let alone the sort of jobs people with medical conditions are going to find manageable.
ESA Don't panic

I submitted written evidence to the Parliamentary Inquiry and have have published all my (ongoing) correspondence, my medical report and the Contract between the DWP and Atos. I think some of the advice might help. Feel free to use my letters as templates etc. See http://www.whywaitforever.com/dwpatos.html... )
