Post #001: It's this time of the year again... New Sherlock is out.

Jan 02, 2017 17:38

So. Due to laziness, disregard for NY resolutions and a messed up sleeping schedule, I've missed work today and watched Sherlock instead. (#such adult, #so responsible) And I believe this deserves a post. Keep in mind that this is pretty much fresh after watching it once, so it's more emotional, less thought through and I might have missed some ( Read more... )

Do you ever meet a couple, when Person A (usually a girl in my experience) is besotted and Person B actually doesn't deserve 2% of that devotion and are a total wanker, but also feeling totally entitled to that devotion? And you just hope Person A will see the light and save themselves? Sadly, Mary didn't.

This! Except, since they fridged her, it's better that she didn't know. I could imagine John confessing at the last minute in a bout of man!guilt. Ew!

Oh my god, yes, I meant it in the "I would hope for her to find out earlier and get out of the whole situation and stay safe", but now you've made me think how much worse could it've been. Yes, if she was to die like that, I am really glad that John did not tell her in the last moment. D:

Wow, our posts on this are scarily similar! I think a lot of people were disappointed with last night's episode tbh. Moffat's influence was all over it in the misogyny and careless storytelling.

Tbh I thought I would hate it even more, so I wasn't that disapointed? I just exist in constant state of dissapointment with Sherlock and Moffat, and Gatiss too, it's not like he's blameless.

I love Martin Freeman but John....WAS A DICK. Like seriously cheating on Mary? And what the fuck was that yell. It sounded like Chewbacca was kicked in the dick or something.

XDDD Nice description.

I really dislike Martin Freeman as well, but certainly not as much as John. :) And every post that is trying to excuse him drives me mad. I don't even mind that some people are still rooting for him, but that's my problem with liking assholes - just admit they're an asshole, stop finding excuses, people. You're allowed to like a character who is not perfect, who is not even very good. *gasp* You might even like characters who are complete shit! Radical idea, I know.

Weird how she literally had to bleed out telling John how much she loved him and how he was her everything, after spending a whole ep trying to save her family and just get some peace, and then get a message to Sherlock about how he needs to save John, practically giving her blessing to the fandom's main ship, so the fans could go "eh, I guess she wasn't that bad". Fuck you, assholes.

I agree with you so much there!!

Glad to hear that! :)
Sherlock fandom is generally a horrible place, but after this ep, they're out-doing themselves. :/

Mary is my goddess. I loved that she got so much to do in this episode and so many good moments with Sherlock. All the anti-Mary people who felt sure she'd be revealed as Moriarty's crony, secretly hating and hated by Sherlock, were wrong, wrong, wrong. I am SO UPSET that she died! I realized going into the season that her odds of long-term survival weren't great because of ACD canon, but I was hoping to be proven wrong. At a minimum I thought she'd make it until episode 3. When she died rather suddenly at the end of an episode that was mostly fairly light-hearted, I was gutted.

I'm deeply pissed off at John right now. I'm not on the nonstop forever hate train the way you seem to be (not criticizing you for that AT ALL though), but I'm really struggling to see a way the future narrative might restore the character I once liked. In this episode his behavior ranged from "meh" to utter asshole.

I love Mary so much <3 This death was so horrible (I mean any detah for her would be terrible, but this was so much worse!) And I hate how people are already writing how it's good because it moves on the plot of johnlock and creates a nice conflict between them. UGH.

To be honest I liked John for the first two seasons, but I think they were more from his POV than last two and the special. And I've been hating on him since season 3, so while I'm pissed at him, there's a small vindicative part of me that is pleased he was proven not to be the saint perfection huge part of fandom considers him to be.

I worry how they will try to save his face now, though :/ I've already read such outragous theories... And the worst part is that if anyone would go for outragous, pointless, senseless plot twist - it would be Moffat. :/
