You're right, the Marian Martin is quite similar to the one I'm working on (which got stalled 'cause I was away this weekend - but soon!) Can't wait to see yours too!
I had that happen in a pattern too - the seller had peeked in the envelope and saw the printed material and thought it was the instructions. The instructions ended up being missing, but I quite forgave her, especially since the newspaper clippings were so fascinating!

That first suit is almost identical to one I have; I've actually made it twice, in green fake-linen and burgandy-colored wool.
