need some fitting advice!

Here is my toile of Hollywood 932. This pattern is 12in smaller than my measurements, so it was a huge grading project. In addition to the straight grade, I also added a 1in FBA, 1in to the bicep and 3/4in in length above the waist. I think I need a little more room in the bicep. I'm just not happy with this. Anyone have any suggestions?

Except for the bicep, it looks pretty good to me, actually. I might try to widen the shoulder line to balance it out a bit. I'm pretty much a perfect pattern size for this era, and what looks like starting-to-be-scary-shoulders on the pattern envelope is just a nice medium when made up. A little more width might tweak the proportions better. Other than that, I think it looks really good. Why don't you like it?

Edit: Or maybe the darts are a little high. That pattern isn't supposed to be quite as fitted as some 50s patterns; it's a looser, sportier look. But it really depends on the look you want.

I think it's the whole shoulder line/bicep area that is bugging me. I'll cut another sleeve and see if that helps. I don't have enough scrap fabric left for another bodice, so that will have to wait for a fabric store trip.

I hope you dont' mind me commenting. I think you need a larger FBA .. the lines all pointing there. From Centre front at bust point, below bust point, and from the armscye. It's looking good though :-)

Yeah, I think you're right. It is pulling a bit.

Ever since I got a digital camera I've found it easier to analyse what fits (or not) on myself. If I'm looking in the mirror my brain must get distracted, but looking at a photo of myself, then I look at how it fits.

I agree with sewaddicted (on both increasing the FBA and on how it's looking good already too!)
