Yep. While there are sometimes serious problems with the way that the UK system is set up (like having to wait forever to get even emergency appointments that don't involve the emergency room -- I am not going to go to the emergency room for a blinding headache or a crushing depression, but fuck me, waiting weeks for an appointment is fucking absurd), there are many many ways that we can improve the absolutely unfair system we have in the States.
When I lived in Germany, I was quite happy with their system. I can't remember exactly how they had it set up, but it was nothing like the disaster of the US system.
I'm not sure there's much point in calling my congress-critters. They're all (1 rep and both sens) really PROUD of how they 'protect' us from 'big government'.
In the state legislative bodies, it's different for me. My reps are progressive dems.
