Just returned from Vegas, a city that's been devastated by the recession more than most. I honestly don't understand the "there aren't enough doctors" argument. Because, to me, it sounds like they're saying that if everyone were insured and actually went to the doctors, that the additional wait would be an inconvenience. Therefore, it's better to let poor people die so "I" don't have to schedule my physical in advance.

If there's another way to interpret that argument, I'd really like to hear it.

It really doesn't matter how many doctors there are, it matters how many my insurance plan approves of. So, when my primary thought I had Rheumatoid Arthritis, it took two years+ to get an appointment with a specialist, who just wanted me to go for another round of 'test for everything else it might be'.

I had to wait because she was the only one in her specialty approved by my insurer. And this for a disease that is best treated as early as possible.
