EEK QUOTIENT. Usual stuff on the workdesk, caught up in a mad dash to next weeks' finish line, cookies in the oven with another batch on the way. Meanwhile, there are a couple of noteworthy things to mention:

-The Great Philippine Book Blockade of 2009 is making the email/blogosphere rounds, and as a book lover, I'm outraged. If you're Filipino and into books, you should probably read this. Here's a quick rundown of links:

Guggenheim Fellow Robin Hemley reports on the issue at McSweeney's (this is the main article.) The Trojan Bore offers a legal perspective. Kenneth Yu of Philippine Genre Stories has further comments, including a defense from Undersecretary Sales (scroll down to the comments section to view it). Master Gerry Alanguilan shares his frustration while Manuel Quezon projects the long view on the issue. Arglblch. Finally, Clair de Lune summarizes things and presents a rundown of details and links pertinent to this issue.

-Chris Ware's Quimby the Mouse animated:

-I'm working on this awesome collaborative project right now, which I sadly can't talk about yet, but I'm sooo excited about it because it's something I've never done before. It's just a few weeks away from release, and I'm in a mad rush to complete it, but in the meantime here are a few preliminary sketches:

-Oh and lastly, Bahay Talinhaga has a review of my FCBD comic, "Xia", over HERE, Anna Tambour has some nice comments about Philippine Speculative Fiction vol.4 over HERE and Top Shelf 2.0 reprints a 1991 comics story from the awesome Noel Tuazon over HERE.
