And now, a note from my hometown library, about The Looney Tunes Treasury:

Many many thanks again for your generous donation of The Looney Tunes Treasury.  We've been holding on to it and looking for a record to copy, but although several large public libraries show it on order, none has yet cataloged it. So our intrepid cataloger Helen went ahead ( Read more... )

Congrats! Though I see they spoiled the fun by noting that Bugs and Porky are fictitious.

Most celebrities are fictitious when you get down to it, though. I'll bet Stan Lee gets the same designation.

I don't know if you have any idea of how exceptional this is. In the typical city library or academic library donated books are never, EVER cataloged. They are placed in a big "donations" room in more or less orderly piles and once a year they are sold off in a big book sale. Or sometimes if a librarian thinks they might have some value other than monetary they are placed in another room, written up in a very fast way (no proper cataloging) and eventually given to a third world library which had some interest in it.

The clincher here is that the cost of cataloging a book on modern systems by a pro librarian, (not to mention keeping it on a shelf in a heated/air conditioned building) usually exceeds the cost of buying a book.

This means that they think your book has truly exceptional value!

Thanks!

I made a special mention of my hometown in the intro in the hopes of scoring some shelf space in the local library, especially since I spent so much time there growing up. It helps that my town is small enough that it's not everyday a Wellington High School grad gets a book published, and I think they were pleased that they were able to add something that would appeal to young readers without going out of pocket.

Whatever the case, you can bet I'm really honored to get my book into an actual honest-to-gosh library.

Image behind cut (or using a thumbnail), please? It's making my friends page unreadable on my netbook.

Made it smaller, so hopefully that will make things easier for you.
