From what I've heard, the temple burn was occuluded by a massive dust storm.

oh, that's unfortunate.. i remember my first year, the temple burn was amazing. the flames seemed much brighter and more engulfing than the man burning (probably because of the thin wood).. i figured this years temple burn would be spectacular as well because it used so much cardboard..

oh well, this year's burn will be better!!!

dude, you're like so totally uncool for not knowing what that is.. :)

it's david best's 'temple of honor' from burning man 2003. he's an artist who's been making the most amazing structures for the past few years at burningman.. and on sunday night, they burn his temples and it's a beautiful sight..

the first few years, they were made of a thin balsa-type wood.. some toy company was making wooden toys where they would cut out flat pieces of wood and assemble the dinosaur or whatever.. david best got access to the scraps that were left over.. and they had some really cool intricate shapes and he would layer them to make even more intricate patterns.. last year, he used cardboard and printed paper with intricate patterns..

and the burning is an integral part of burning man :)
