Saiyajins have a brutal bloody history. You should read Brolli's book. I don't think any of the Saiyajin legends don't involve some huge battle with a lot of bloodshed.

We're naturally a violent people. I think all this sparring and training keeps us from going on a rampage and killing everyone in sight, just because we're... bored.
