One of my friends posted up a link to this article in the Telegraph, which is just one of several in the media about an incident which happened in Luton a few weeks ago. At the time you might have noticed that all of these articles were eerily similar - because modern reporting just involves looking at reuters and then adding emotive bits to tell ( Read more... )

I hate to point something out, but if the gentleman who protested were Asian they would be unlikely to have relatives in an Arab country (yes I am aware Iraq is in Asia, but the definition of Asians and Arabs is normally separated).

However the main thing was I typed "extermists in Luton" into google and the first thing back was this: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/faith/article6392580.ece which I would have thought was the exact opposite of what you are saying.

The second one is from the telgraph: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/politics/lawandorder/4991313/Lutons-Muslim-extremists-defy-public-anger.html and seems to say that Muslims are not a homogeneous group and extremist behaviour is being challenged by other Muslims on the streets of Luton.

I should have said "muslims" instead of "asians" as there are hundreds of different race groups, certainly many of whom identify with the ordinary civilians in Iraq. Since "Asian" has also started to mean "chinese and japanese" it wasn't the best choice of words I admit ( ... )

Unfortunately it is so difficult to influence people who allready have been filled with so much crap from their 'havent got a clue, blame everyone else for their self inflicted problem' parents, neighbors, etc that people dont notice there are a lot of people out there that just want to be part of a safe happy community no matter whose in it. Even though live in Lewesy area, considering how many times have been out to help with car crash (its happened at least 3 times on the same road this year:S) or someone who was suffering badly from diabetes, there has always been quite a few neighbors that have come out to help aswell, asians/africans/carribeans/white peeps doesnt matter they all come to help as part of a community

Yes I don't think it is as bad as it is painted here. Reading the papers you'd think we were all out stabbing each other all the time.
