I can relate to having that school work laziness, but it's always a huge step in the right direction when you give yourself that drive to keep going. Just want to reiterate jade_sabre_301's "rooting for you" sentiments because, well, I am, too!
My heart breaks every time you describe your struggles with depression and self worth because I understand. I know so well. And I know the ups and downs that comes with it. And I've said it before, but I'll say it a million times over: I know we've never met but I love you and I believe in you. (Also on that note I love the bear hug. LOVE IT. I was having a wicked crappy day today and saw it and squeed so THANK YOU

I can relate to that laziness towards uni, because here I am wandering through LJ instead of working on the 3 major pieces of assessment all due in 3 days. But after reading this I feel a new determination to stop putting them off, so thank you. It's the determination I see that you want to do better for yourself and that you don't want to put up with your own bullshit that is now pushing me to work on them now.
Also, I always found Sam Carter from Stargate SG1to be a strong female character, she is a major reason why I'm now studying mechanical engineering - I want her job, no matter how impossible it seems.
Here's hoping you and I can both get our uni work back under control.
Girls need better than that. Girls need to be taught that it's okay to be non-traditional. It's okay to like girls rather than guys. It's okay to want sex. It's okay to not want sex. It's okay to want five children, and it's okay to want zero children. Girls need to be taught that their gender is not their most defining characteristic.*APPLAUDS YOU* I was just talking about this to one of my other friends via LJ's PMing system and I agree. I think our society pushes too hard for women to take after one model, rather than celebrating women for their differences. I'm a virgin and doing an english major, but that doesn't mean I'm better than a housewife who likes to have a lot of sex and vice versa. We should be allowed to live our lives the way we want to without people making snap judgements about us or getting backlashes from our cultures
