An updated newbie guide. I tried to gather as much as I could, but it's still missing a lot.
AN INTRODUCTION TO DISCEDO
by Sokka [of the Water Tribe]. No Last Name Given.
By now, you've probably been given a run-through of what this place is and what you're doing here. Or, maybe you've just been given this. Either way, this is a guide for newcomers to refer to, and I'll try to keep it updated for as long as I'm here.
First off: You've been taken from your home/travels/wherever you were and relocated to a city named Discedo, located on the planet Fortuna. Not long ago ( or, so I'm assuming, given how fresh so many burns and pieces of debris are) this city's population was wiped out by a virus (.. the Atropos Virus, an airborne virus that has symptoms that start simply as your normal cold, but in two weeks, result in total organ failure. - notes from Garcian Smith, March 31st, 2008), leaving a handful of people to rebuild. Those people, known as The Scientists (Samus Aran has written
profiles on each of them, as well as one or two others we've encountered. Samus, if you could, will you add that subway guy to this?) have taken it upon themselves to pluck us from our homes and send us here to help them rebuild and repopulate the city. We've been given no explanation outside of that, but over the past year or so, clues and findings have popped up that may or may not lead to clarifying why Discedo is in the state it is now. For reference, we have a
map of the general city itself--or, what's been secured so far. More updates are coming, so again, check back here for those.
The monsters that inhabit Discedo are also pulled from most of our home worlds, which may not be completely accidental. What's more, upon arrival, everyone is equipped with a chip that blocks off any superhuman powers they possess. Even with the chip removed the Scientists have proven themselves able to completely shut off anyone's powers and abilities when they find it convenient--so the chip isn't the only thing that can restrict you.
Death in Discedo is temporary: if you die, you're usually brought back a day later and re-chipped. But recently, the wait between death and being brought back has lengthened and wavered, and as usual, questions on this have either been unanswered or vaguely answered at all.
The city itself was once slightly less than a bustling metropolis, from what I've seen in it's now-destroyed subway system and warehouse district. There is obviously land outside of the city, but the farthest we've managed to explore were the mountains, where Logan found pamphlets containing very vague maps of the mountain area. I'm working on updating this with the path we took and notes on the surrounding area (the forest, the farm, etc.).
Groups have begun to form to help out newcomers and people who are stuck here. These are the ones I know of.
The Doctors - Responsible for medical treatment and care in Discedo.
The Clearing Team - Work to clean debris and monsters from buildings and other areas.
The Inventory Team - I'm not sure about their status, but they kept a watch over emergency suppies such as blankets, weaponry, and appliances.
The Escorts - Responsible for getting newcomers to shelter when they arrive.
The Mechanics - Repair things within buildings, build generators for electricity,
The Supply Team - Make runs throughout the city to gather supplies for the apartments, the high school, the police station, and other inhabited buildings.
The Amazing Fighting Masters - Tutors on self-defense that meet in the high school gymnasium. Contact Iroh about this one.
If there are any others, let me know and I'll list them here.
As far as shelter and living space goes, every open place is free game, but there are actual safe places to live. These include:
The High School
Latimir Street Apartments
Horton Lane Apartments
What's left of Marshall Street Apartments.
Gohl Avenue Apartments (Invite Only)
The Church is open for anyone who wishes to worship, but the people living there would like it if no one else moved in for good.
For the most part, living spaces are first-come, first-serve. If you find an empty apartment, it's yours; it'd just be great if you let everyone else know that you're living there. The apartments are usualy one-to-three bedroom living spaces, so rooming with someone if you're comfortable with it is encouraged so that we have tons of space for people to sleep.
That's what I have so far. I'm sure I missed a ton of stuff, but I'll update and clean ths up a little when I've got more information to share. Help me out with add-ons and suggestions if you can, guys.
