Greg tiptoed over to the nursery door and pushed it open just enough to see Aoife sleeping in her crib. Soundlessly, he moved across the room and tucked her blanket back up around her and brushed a hand lightly over her curls. He truly hated when business meetings took him overseas, especially now that Maeve was expecting again. He hated to miss story-time and tucking his baby girl in.
Backing out of the room, he made his way down the hall to the master suite. His smile widened when he stepped into the bedroom only to find his wife fast asleep, sitting up and leaning against the pillows- obviously having been trying to stay up until he got home.
He stripped as he went, carefully taking the book out of her hands and gently picking her up and shifting her so that she could lay on her side in deference to her very pregnant state. When she began to wake, he kissed her brow and whispered, "Shh, go back to sleep, Mo Rós. I'm home now."
As he crawled around her and settled in with on hand on the side of her belly where he could feel thier child moving about, Greg sent up a prayer of thanks for all the blessings he'd been given. In fact, to his way of thinking he was the luckiest man in the world.
