IC Information:
Name: Madoka Kaname
Fandom: Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Timeline: Timeline 3, Post-death
Age: 14
Appearance:
Madoka is a short girl with a childish build. She has pink hair that she wears up in twintails, and matching pink eyes. In magical girl form, she wears a pink and white dress with red ribbon trim all over. She wears her Soul Gem like a pendant, around her neck, and when transformed, it turns into a charm hanging off of a choker.
Picture.
Abilities:In magical girl form, Madoka's main weapon is a bow and arrow, capable of firing red and pink energy blasts, which she can summon at will; she also has a proficient grasp of archery. In addition, due to her status as a magical girl, she can leap higher and is more agile than most, and her body is tougher than most. Injuries do affect her, but with less damage and less pain. She can only be permanently killed if her Soul Gem is shattered, or if she transforms into a witch (from overtaxing her Soul Gem and not cleansing it) and is defeated. Otherwise, her mind will live on and be able to cling to an empty body if her own is destroyed. And to those with the ability, she has an immense storage of magical power within her, mostly untapped.
Personality:The Madoka of the third timeline is quite different from the Madoka of the main timeline. The main Madoka is an ordinary girl, with no special powers or attributes; she stands on the sidelines, terrified of the choices her friends make, as things drag in deeper and she can do nothing to help them--But this Madoka is quite different. She is a magical girl. She does possess immense power, and the courage great enough to be able to help her friends.
Generally, this Madoka is stronger in several aspects. Where the Madoka of the main timeline can crumple emotionally very easily, this Madoka stands tall in the face of danger and sorrow.. That doesn't mean she's a steel pole, however--like any human being, like any fourteen year old girl, Madoka will crack if you bend her too far. But the fact is that she's more likely to push her problems to the side when they occur.
Out of the entire cast, Madoka is the most fair and mature. She doesn't throw tantrums and get upset over silly little things, and she treats everyone with the same great amount of kindness. She takes the time to analyze her situations before making a decision, and has a very rational mind--or, at least, as rational as one can be while simultaneously being a magical girl. When the hard truth comes crashing down, Madoka can deal with it--like mentioned before, she's just a teenage girl, but she won't try to deny what's obvious or proved. And she never lies unless she absolutely must.
However, this doesn't mean she's a wuss, or a pacifist. Madoka has power, and she will use it if she must. When Mami killed Kyouko, and almost killed Homura, Madoka acted quickly and killed Mami to prevent further damage. She does want to avoid unnecessary fighting, but if there must be a fight, she will participate, with all of her strength.
History:Madoka's life before becoming a magical girl is mostly unknown, but mundane. She lived a peaceful life with her parents and her younger brother. They had a nice home, a lot of money, and Madoka had a close circle of friends. She was definitely happy. One day, she formed a contract with a small, white, ferret-like creature named Kyuubey. In exchange for saving the life of a fatally injured cat, Madoka became a magical girl and was assigned with the task of fighting witches, distorted and nightmarish creatures. She allies herself with Mami and Sayaka, and one day is approached by a strange girl with glasses named Homura, claiming to be a magical girl herself.
By this period, Homura has reset time twice already, once when Madoka died and once when Madoka became a witch. Madoka quickly makes friends with Homura, like always, but this time is informed directly of the other girl's time-stopping abilities. She tries to tell the group of the true nature behind Soul Gems, but gets shot down by Sayaka. Homura ropes Kyouko, whom Sayaka initially distrusted, into the group and....of course, Madoka welcomes her with open arms. The five grow stronger together, and Homura begins stealing more weapons behind their backs. One day, though, Sayaka's fate in the main timeline happens--she turns into a witch, forcing Kyouko to kill her. Mami witnesses first-hand the true fate of magical girls, and kills Kyouko. She intends to kill Homura and then kill herself, but Madoka intervenes and shoots down Mami with one of her arrows. Somber and shaken, Madoka and Homura go out to fight Walpurgisnacht by themselves.
The girls, for the most part, are successful. They manage to take down Walpurgisnacht completely, with the only damage being surrounding area property destruction. However, both girls wore out their Soul Gems by overtaxing their powers. They both lay on the ground, on the verge of turning into witches, when Madoka takes out a spare Grief Seed she had been concealing. She asks Homura two things, after cleansing her Soul Gem for her: 1) to go back in the past once more, and make sure Madoka never became a magical girl in the first place, and 2) to mercy kill her right then, so she would never become a witch.
Homura does so, and with Madoka dead once more, heads back into the past for the fourth time. Madoka shows no memory of the past timelines (in this case, just #1 & #2) except for fleeting feelings of deja vu.
Roleplay Sample - Log:
She didn't remember going to sleep. Although death felt like a kind of sleep. It was painful at first, yes, but when everything started to fade, it was just like a great sleep.
So imagine her surprise when she woke up. It was a white ceiling. White sheets. White walls, white furniture. And some shiny black device resting next to her. Wherever she was, it wasn't her room, it wasn't Mitakihara. It wasn't a witch's barrier. It wasn't anywhere she'd ever been. She considered for a moment that it was a hospital. But if it was, there'd be beeping machines, and tubes everywhere, her family hovering over her--
She tossed off the blanket that was on top of her. She was surprised to be in her school uniform. Her shoes were off, and resting by the door, and her hair was undone, but she never remembered sleeping in her uniform either. She almost went into a panic when she didn't see that one important object anywhere--her Soul Gem, where was it?
Madoka stood up, and looked around the room. A desk and a closet. It didn't seem threatening. She grabbed her hairbows from the table--and saw her Soul Gem, strung on it's ribbon, wrapped around the shiny device. She squinted, and tentatively unwrapped it, fingering the pink stone. It was completely clear. It showed absolutely no sign of the black taint that had almost corrupted her.
The twintailed girl gulped. What was going on? Where was she? Who cleaned her Soul Gem?
The device must have some sort of answer, she thought. She dropped the Soul Gem around her neck, and pushed a few buttons. It looked like the type of phone her mother would have. A whole pad of buttons, a wide screen, a small camera-like apparatus at the top. But, of course, her mother never did have something like this.
She took a deep breath as the screen whirred to life.
Roleplay Sample - Journal:
Hello? [There is a pair of pink eyes in the camera feed.] Homura-chan? Are you here? Did something happen with your time powers?
[The feed backs out until a small girl with equally pink hair is revealed.]
I don't really know what's going on here, but um...if there's anyone that can hear this...My name is Madoka Kaname; am I still dead? Is this limbo or something?
[Her voice falls down to a whisper, as though she's not entirely sure if she should say this] Kyuubey. Did you do this?
This game includes horrible mental and physical torture of your character. After reading the rules/faq for clarification, how do you expect your character to handle this and continue to function? Madoka already had to go through what could count as torture in canon. she's already been down the block twice. To add to it, though, she hopes. That is her shtick. The girl never, ever, ever, gives up hope. And she becomes the physical embodiment of hope in the series finale. Even if her body is scarred and broken repeatedly, her hope will keep her mentally unbroken.
Questions? Comments? Crazed and creative statements? Those go here. Could there be some way for her Soul Gem to get auto-cleansed, maybe at each reset or every other reset? Otherwise she'll just turn into a witch, die, and get fac-revived. Over and over again.
