Let's discuss the American Idol result, shall we?

As with last year, I'm doing my regular Idol blogs in italics over on Chris's blog, but right now I have a lot of feelings:

Although Pia wasn't my favorite (not because she was "boring", but because she never had anything to her performances beyond being a good singer), I was sad to see her go. Especially when Stefano, the way worse male version of Pia, remains. No real argument for her not to make the top 4 or so at least.

My favorite this year is Lauren. This is the first year I've had a favorite who has actually been consistently good. My prior years' favorites like Kat McPhee, Brooke White, and Megan Joy put up some truly awful performances in between the great ones.

I should note I still haven't seen an actual episode of the show yet, just youtube clips of performances so any non-performance stuff like personality or judge treatment doesn't enter at all for me this year.
