So monthly we would like to have events that happen if a certain set of circumstances is fulfilled by the characters. These are meant only as opt-in, if you don't want to be involved you don't have to be.
What is the point? There are two of them:
1)To reinforce the soft, indistinct nature of the play field.
2)To give characters something new to talk about regularly.
April is, of course, exploring the grounds and finding out just how much they and the hotel change daily. It's the settling in month.
May will have a mirror event: If your character passes a mirror without any lights on in the room, they will see a pair of eyes looking back at them. How to avoid the event? Don't mention passing a mirror in the dark.
June, late as it is, has a fire room. One of the rooms on the ground floor randomly bursts into flames. No harm is done to anyone or anything in that room at the time.
July we have coloured raindrops (think food colouring) every day. The showers will last for however long they're wanted to last, and will stain or not as individual players see fit. So they might stain Rachel's clothing, but the Sphinx's fur would be fine.
August is unintelligible whispers in the pool area. The whispers mock you. Maybe. Probably. It's hard to tell.
September animate furniture! Furniture taking on the characteristics of animals. Pigeon bar stools, lion tables, whatever!
October Portions of the ceilings, walls or floors have turned into bodies of water. Rugs rest on top of bottomless pools, tiles ripple and splash, you can toss pennies in the ceiling. If you can walk on the surface, you won't sink, unless you want to swim in a defined area.
November Was made of fail on my part. Mea culpa. However...
December is the Amazing Technicolor Rodent invasion. Monastic, peaceful, incredibly fast, prone to hiding under beds and the like.
A monthly event will last one month. Unlike a plot it does not need to have a beginning, a middle, and an end. It can not harm characters. It needs to be non-invasive and easy to avoid.
Past that? Please. Comment with your ideas.
